Safeguarding policies

Our child protection policies and procedures have been developed alongside former child protection officers and our site contains a number of built-in features which aim to provide a safe educational environment.

Students must be at least 18 years old to book a Tutor for themselves or another learner. Learners under the age of 18 must be represented by a parent or legal guardian who gives consent for them to receive tuition.

Students are responsible for their security in conjunction with our services, both online and offline.

All tutors must either hold a current and active university email address - or provide a certificate to demonstrate their attendance - to join the tutor community. Without this, they cannot register or conduct lessons.

We require tutors to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Test provided by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 requires Exam Centre North London to carry out specific vetting (enhanced DBS and barred list checks) on staff or tutors if they work with anyone under the age of 18.

To deter and prevent unsuitable individuals and inappropriate behaviour on the platform, Exam Centre North London has a rigorous and robust recruitment process that incorporates the specific “Safer Recruitment” requirements.

Interview and verification

Tutors must successfully pass an interview before being admitted onto the platform. Each tutor is also subject to lesson observations periodically as a secondary control

ID Verification

Our tutors are required to produce two pieces of original identification during the initial interview. These can be a UK passport, driver's license, marriage certificate, birth certificate or adoption certificate.

Health Declaration

The exam centre requires that all tutors self-declare they are physically and mentally fit to deliver lessons, by asking them to sign the Terms and Conditions.

Verified Employment History

Exam Centre North London discusses with candidates their employment history from the age of 18 at the interview.
